Forever Young Fashion Show.

Ashley and I drove took a little road trip to Connecticut to help her friend Rachel with her fashion show titled Forever Young. We helped decorate and help with the backstage set up. I had never been to a fashion show before, so Ashley led the way. Rachel's fashions are made from recycled substances, whether it be straws, trash bags, or vintage garments found at Salvation Army and consignment shops. It was only fitting that the fashion show took place at the Trash Museum in Connecticut. The Trash Museum is not only a recycling center, but also an interactive museum that teaches kids how to recycle and how to create compost piles. I of course loved it. They also had a tunnel of trash which Ashley and I took a picture under.

I'm now a Swapaholic!

I am now a swapaholic! My friend Amy, who is an avid and stylish fashion blogger, told me about this great group of bloggers who started their take on a swap meet in Massachusetts.

My first Swapaholics event I attended was on a Thursday night in Boston at this great art space. Having never been to an event before, I brought my good friend Livvie along for moral support, as I was a bit nervous. We got a little lost on the way, but the prime parking spot made up for it. We arrived with a bag of clothes that we wanted to recycle. We handed the bag over to the some of the fashionable people in charge and in turn we got a recyclable bag to be filled with goodies. There was free beer and delicious red velvet cupcakes. We made some fantastic friends while we waited for the meet to start. Everyone was excited and there were many nervous first time swappers just like us!

At eight-thirty, the time had come. All of a sudden there was a mad dash into the next room. There were tables set up according to the clothing item and beautiful dresses and skirts gallore hanging on racks. There were shoes outlining the walls calling for new feet to fill them.

Amy gave me some advice. Go for the racks first and don't pay attention too much to sizes. If it doesn't fit, you can always bring it to the next swap. Livvie and I said as long as we went home with one thing that we loved, then the trip was a success. We both went home with some treasures, but nothing can beat the fashionable girls we got to meet. I will definitely be going to another swap meet soon. You never know what you're going to find!

I spotted this designer on one of my favorite blogs, Owl-Wings. This line is perfection. I love the colors and love everyone of these pieces. I will definitely be looking at more from this designer. Love it!

Help!

So, I thought I had found the perfect twill skinny pants for Spring and summer (picture to the left and link). Great price and colors. I wanted them to be pants, so I tried the regular inseam because they are supposed to be cropped. They were two inches too short. They also make Tall, but Tall sizes start in a size two and I need a zero or double zero. I have tried on about 50 different twill pants and capris and can't find one to fit me as good as these did. Any other ideas? I already tried Banana Republic, Gap, Jcrew, and Eddie Bauer.

The Loft.

Next week, I start my job at Ann Taylor Loft. I have loved the store ever since I first walk in this past summer. The Loft take classic pieces that every girl should have in their closet with a modern twist for girls who are fashion forward. Their collections aren't trendy. Their collections offer pieces that belong in every woman's wardrobe.

What really got me excited is their petite section. I have long lusted for beautiful women's clothes, but have always found the fit of the clothes unsettling. I'm very petite. Most of the time, I do not want to shop in the juniors section, the closest to finding clothes that fit. I want a beautiful piece of clothing that will last and endure my adventures. Even the petite sections of other stores led me to still too long trousers and wide and short tops. The loft knows how to flatter a petite women's body. Stumbling into The Loft store gave me a whole new outlook on being able to dress the way i want without numerous trips to the tailor along with the unsightly costs for the work. With most cases, even hemming the pants did not come with a solution for well fitting pants. Most of the time, hemming the bottom of the pants cut off the style and led to an unflattering fit. The Loft gets in right in the first place!

I'm both nervous and excited for my new job and can't wait to spread my appreciation and love for the company with clients who are looking for a certain look. I hope I can help them find it at The Loft.
